We are delighted to partner with Play Healing to bring you access to a new resource to work with children and families experiencing trauma. This resource is both well founded in research and best practice, yet simple and easy to access and use.
Play Healing is a social enterprise that specialises in play therapy, and has been working to help parents, teachers and carers support displaced Ukrainian children rediscover play and human connection in the midst of trauma.
WWO Europe has supported Debi John of Play Healing to evaluate new resources, created especially for those affected by the war in Ukraine. We now continue to support her to train others in order the scale up the availability of the resources and skills to use them. Through Play Therapy’s simple and highly effective ‘Pause Play Connect’ method, hundreds of children in the immediate shock of evacuation from home have already reconnected with their mum or carer through play.
We are now delighted that Debi has invited WWO partners and contacts to learn more about play therapy, how it benefits children and families, and how to access her resources for those working with displaced families and children.
Debi John, play consultant and creator of the PAUSE, PLAY, CONNECTⓇ Framework, is a highly motivated advocate for integrating the transformative power of play as a mechanism for social impact in order for children and young people to thrive in this fast paced digital age.
Drawing from over 20 years of professional experience in education, safeguarding and the therapeutic arts, Debi facilitates far-reaching, empowering, evidence-based training and consultancy. Debi has also managed have community based projects as well as working with the corporate sector to speak to adults about the need to create play-filled, safe environments for the next generation to thrive and learn within.
Debi is a mum of two teenagers and has a mission to pollinate play around the globe.
This is a 1-hour online workshop, which is advertised publicly, followed by a 30-minute time of sharing and prayer for those from WWO’s Christian network who would like to stay in the meeting.
